Scaling A

The Problem

Sometimes success is its own problem. Like when the Aspen Institute realized that two decades of high-quality and well-attended public events and conferences could reach even larger audiences and create greater impact. But while the systems and processes in place to support these convenings had grown over time, they were not ready to scale.

What management needed:

To optimize the way events were planned and produced to achieve new strategic objectives and to generate more unrestricted revenue for the organization.

What Staff Wanted:

More enterprise-level services and support for program-hosted events and an opportunity to share best practices across the organization to tap into in-house expertise and ideas.

What Happened Next:

Pherabe launched a six-month strategic review of the public events and event services functions across the Institute to identify opportunities for efficiency, cost savings, revenue and audience growth, and collaboration.

The Solution:

Detailed and comprehensive recommendations for organizational realignment, needed investments in staffing and systems, and actionable suggestions to improve support and success of this critical mission function. Change is underway now and being led by a new senior executive recruited specifically to implement this vision.
